Welcome to OSSTube (“we,” “our,” or “platform”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website, enroll in courses, or connect educator tools.
1. Content & Intellectual Property
• Hosted Content: OSSTube integrates educational media via secure, verified API connections. We do not claim ownership of content imported or curated by Educators.
• Compliance: All shared curriculum content must adhere to Global Educational Standards and our Content Safety Guidelines. We reserve the right to audit content for safety and compliance.
• Data Rights: Educators retain full ownership of their intellectual property, lesson materials, code repositories, and educational assets.
2. Financial Data Security & PCI-DSS
• Transaction Safety: All financial payments and course purchases are processed through PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant payment gateways (including Razorpay). OSSTube does not store sensitive card numbers, CVVs, or bank passwords.
• Third-Party Infrastructure: We collaborate with audited cloud infrastructure providers for analytics and video streaming. All partners are strictly vetted for adherence to global data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, and DPDP Act).
3. User Communications (OSSChat)
• Encrypted Messaging: Student-Mentor interactions via OSSChat are private and used solely for academic and technical mentorship. We do not sell, license, or share communication logs with third-party advertisers or data brokers.
4. Google User Data & Limited Use
OSSTube enables you to sign in with your Google Account, and allows Educators to connect a YouTube channel. Both options are completely optional — you can create an account using standard email/password authentication, and you can utilize OSSTube without linking YouTube.
• What we receive from Google Sign-In: Your first name, last name, email address, display name, and avatar profile picture URL. We use this strictly to authenticate your account and personalize your profile without requiring a separate password.
• What we receive from YouTube (only upon explicit educator authorization): We request the read-only scope https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.readonly to read public channel metadata — channel ID, title, description, thumbnail, subscriber count, and public video counts. We NEVER read private videos, upload content, modify or delete videos, and we cannot post on your channel.
• Data Sharing Prohibition: We do NOT sell Google user data, transfer it to ad brokers, or use it to train generative AI models without consent.
• Limited Use Requirement: OSSTube's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
• Account Disconnection & Data Deletion: You can revoke OSSTube's access at any time via Google Account Permissions. To request complete deletion of your data, email support@osstube.com. Requests are completed within 30 days.
5. YouTube API Services Terms
OSSTube uses YouTube API Services to synchronize educational playlists and creator channels. By connecting your channel, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service.
Google's data collection and handling practices are described in the Google Privacy Policy. You can audit or remove access anytime via Google Security Settings.
6. Cookies & Google AdSense Disclosure
• Cookies Usage: We utilize essential session cookies for authentication, theme preference retention, and security verification.
• Google AdSense / DART Cookie: Third-party advertising partners, including Google, may use cookies to serve relevant technical ads based on previous browsing history.
• Opting Out: Users can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
